1. What is the difference between HALOS 1 & HALOS 2?

These two systems are exactly opposite of each other.

HALOS 1

Original HALOS has hook strips in the recessed grooves and loop tape on the stamps. Loop tape is thick. The first time you cut out the stamps, there are “fuzzies” which some people did not like, which led to the development of HALOS II.

HALOS 2

HALOS II has loop tape in the grooves and clear hook tape under the rubber.
The clear hook tape on HALOS II has a number of advantages over original, most importantly, no fuzzies. It also is easier to clean the stamps because it does not absorb water or ink.

Some customers still prefer the original HALOS. As a result, we have continued both lines. You may still purchase these items directly on this website.

2. How can I tell if my stamp is HALOS 1 or HALOS 2?
If the back of your stamp is BLACK & “fuzzy” you have a HALOS 1 Stamp and would need to use a HALOS 1 Acrylic Block. If the back of your stamp is WHITE & “hard” you have a HALOS 2 Stamp and would need to use a HALOS 2 Acrylic Block. See example.

3. What type of scissors do you recommend?

There are special scissors known as KAIS. These are widely available and have large handles for leverage and has short, sharp blades. You may also find that Black Teflon scissors are very easy to use and will actually keep the scissors from getting “gummed” up. TIP: Don’t “undercut.” Hold your scissors upright as you work.

4. Should I trim stamps before putting them on the Hook Tape?

You may either trim your stamps first, or place a sheet of untrimmed rubber on the clear Hook Tape. Clear hook tape should cover your stamp completely to get the best results. The adhesive on our products is very strong and can easily “gum” up your scissors, if you don’t coat them before cutting. With good scissors, it’s easy to cut right through both thicknesses at the same time.

5. What can I use to keep my scissors from being gummed up?

The adhesive on our products is very strong and can easily “gum” up your scissors, if you don’t coat them before cutting. The easiest thing to do is to keep an embossing pad nearby when cutting. If this isn’t available, we’ve found that many things will substitute- just something to coat the scissors. Even water will work, but it evaporates rapidly.

6. Can I use my own unmounted stamps?

You can use our Hook Tape on any other manufacturer’s rubber or even clear dies. Even though you can still use other mounting systems with our clear mounts (because one side is completely flat and free of the Loop Tape), we think you’ll enjoy the convenience, ease of use and secure storage advantages of our system.

7. What does HALOS stand for?

HALOS = Hooked And Looped On Stamps. It can also stand for Have A Lot of Stamps. :)
